Just so you know, the Boy's names I use while blogging - Alla (11) & Boy (6) are the names that Princess (2) gave to them. Yes, she calls him Boy, her Daddy is always saying "Boy, if you don't stop ________ (fill in the blank), you're going to ______ (fill in the blank)." So she thinks his name is "Boy".

Over the past few weeks we have been doing a few science experiments. We have planted some apple seeds, right out of a gala apple, in a cup of potting soil. I didn't think I would ever get that dirt out from under my nails.... Then we were learning about molds. Yuck is all I have to say. I got this bright idea to put a piece of bread, dampened with just a little bit of water, in a glass jar and we would observe the mold growth. Well, the mold started growing, and getting pretty gross looking. And yesterday I went to check on it and it was GONE. No one knows what has happened to it. Me and the boys were laughing and saying that it grew so much mold that it just poofed away into thin air.... Who knows, it could happen! But, just in case it didn't, and someone finds our jar of mold, please throw it away for me :-)
Today we went to the Fire Station with the Libraries' Story Time Group. My cousin takes her boys to the library every week for the Story time hour. She invited us to go along with them this week, they were meeting at the Fire Station instead of the Library. We had alot of fun, and WE learned a lot also.
Do you know what I mean when I say, you never notice all of the yellow cars on the road until you get one? Well, that's how I have been feeling the last few months about the Israelites......
Back before May, I was wanting to do the Bible study "Lord, Change My Attitude" by James MacDonald. One of my friends had done it and said it was really good. I never did get it, because I had too many studies/books going on already that I needed to finish. In May I decided to go ahead and get it, so I went to Lifeway and the shelf was empty. So, I thought I would just check back later, no big deal. But then, somehow, not really knowing what "Lord, Change My Attitude" was even suppose to be about, well, other than attitudes, I ran across a book by Joyce Meyer in Wal-mart, called "Battlefield of the Mind". I picked it up and quickly without any hesitation bought it, don't know why other than God placing that book in my cart.
Oh, my goodness, this is where it gets interesting! "Battlefield of the Mind" was about wilderness mentalities that we can take on that keep us from ever entering into Promise Land living. Ahem, mainly complaining, aka murmuring, and just having a negative attitude about anything!
After I finished reading "Battlefield of the Mind", I was in Lifeway again one day. I was looking in the bargain book section and lo and behold, there it was, on clearance,"Lord, Change my Attitude". The book was probably in the Bargain section the last time I was looking for it, but God didn't want me to have it in my hands just yet, he wanted me to read "Battlefield of the Mind" first. And here's the reason, on the very first page in the foreward, "In his own direct style, James MacDonald has pinpointed those negative attitudes that keep us in the wilderness of our spiritual experience and has given us positive help in developing God honoring attitudes that will bring us in to 'Promised Land Living' ". I kid you not, that's what it said. So from that point on, my eyes were wide open to the yellow cars Israelites and the Wilderness mentalities that keep us from entering into Promised Land Living. I was able to absorb that book so much more because of what I had just read in "Battlefield of the Mind". I'm normally a New Testament reader mainly, the Old Testament has always been harder for me to get into. But not anymore, I have a new passion for the Old Testament. There has not been a day, not one (my family will testify to this) that has went by in the past months, since starting to read these books, that God has not put something in my path that is directly talking about the Israelites or the Promised Land or the Wilderness. One day I ran across a primitive looking sign in HomeGoods, that said "Yesterday Was The Deadline For All Complaints" , I had to get it. It has become our home motto. It's funny, when one of the kids start to complain about something, I will say, "Do you know who you sound like?" And they will say "WE KNOW, the Israelites".
We were going through Alla's (11) history book we noticed that, coming up in chapter 3, that we will be having another Israelite encounter very soon!
